First day of the Winter/Spring Rigging Class

Today began the Winter/Spring Rigging Class at Morse High School's Carpentry Room. Members of this class will become a team, working together to learn tool and shop skills, while developing a working understanding of rigging, splicing and traditional rope work under the guidance of Shipwright, Will West. They will improve wood working skills, building the dead eyes as well as the running blocks as well as building and rigging, Port and Starboard Lee Boards, and Rudder. All students will also learn video skills while documenting the project with Video Consultant, Patti Irish and increase their understanding of the historical importance of the Popham Colony.

To begin the process of team building, each student took a test to find their learning style and shared information about themselves. This information was emailed to Patti and will be shared so we can get to know each other sooner.

What a great group of students to work with on this fun project.
